About the RISER 3D Riser Pad Builder
The RISER 3D builder is a free, browser-based tool for designing custom skateboard riser pads and exporting them as print-ready STL files. There is no account to create and nothing to install — set the dimensions you need, preview the part in 3D, and download a model you can send straight to any FDM 3D printer. It was built by a skater who started out cutting risers by hand in Fusion 360, then turned that process into a tool simple enough for anyone to use.
Unlike a fixed pack of store-bought risers, the builder lets you dial in an exact height from 0.1 mm up to 50 mm, add a wedge angle to change your truck geometry, and match the bolt-hole pattern to your trucks. That means you can fix wheel bite, fine-tune a cruiser or surfskate setup, or raise a longboard for bigger wheels — instead of settling for a part that "almost" fits. Every design is yours to print as many times as you like.
How to Use the Builder
- Choose a base shape. Start from a cutout, solid, or pocket base — or drop in your own SVG silhouette to match any deck or board profile.
- Set your heights. Enter a front and rear height in millimeters or inches. Equal values give a flat riser; different values create a wedge.
- Add a wedge angle (optional). Wedge risers change how your trucks turn — steeper for surfskate and carving, milder for stability.
- Match the hole pattern. Confirm the bolt spacing lines up with your trucks so the finished part bolts straight on.
- Preview in 3D. Rotate the live preview to check the shape, thickness, and cutouts before you commit.
- Export the STL. Download a print-ready STL and slice it like any other model. We print test fits in PLA and final parts in PETG at 100% infill.
What You Can Build
- Wheel-bite fixes — add just enough clearance to run bigger or softer wheels without the wheel grabbing the deck.
- Cruiser and penny setups — raise small plastic cruisers to clear chunky 59–60 mm wheels.
- Surfskate and carving wedges — angle the front truck to tighten your turn and pump harder.
- Longboard lifts — gain height for 70 mm+ wheels on a drop-through or top-mount.
- Shock and vibration pads — a flat riser smooths out rough pavement on a daily commuter.
Builder FAQ
Is the riser pad builder free?
Yes. Designing and exporting STL files is completely free, with no account and no watermark. You only need a 3D printer — or a printing service — to make the part.
What material should I print risers in?
Print test fits in PLA to check sizing, then print the parts you actually ride in PETG at 100% infill. PETG handles the load and flex of skating far better than PLA.
How many risers do I need?
One set is two risers — one per truck. The builder exports a single riser, so print two for a complete board.
What height should I choose?
Street setups often run 3 mm (1/8") or none; all-around setups use 6 mm (1/4"); cruisers and longboards with big soft wheels usually want 10 mm (3/8") or more. See our riser height guide for details.
Do I need longer bolts with a riser?
Yes — add roughly the riser thickness to your bolt length. The Dimensions panel suggests a length, and the Bolt Length Calculator gives a setup-specific answer.
Can I use my own deck or board shape?
Yes. Upload an SVG silhouette and the builder uses it as the base shape for both the 3D preview and the STL export.
